I don’t know if Tesla thought they were just as smart as could be or if they honestly think we’re all this stupid, but it’s time someone pointed out the scale of the scam they’re trying to pull off.
The motherfuckers found a way to sell hatchbacks in the United States... Seriously, they managed to get over 130,000 people to pre-order this damn car sight unseen. Talk about one helluva way to generate over $130 million in deposit fees and well over $4.5 billion in pledged sales.
In other words, if Tesla delivers a vehicle to everyone that reserved a car they will have sold more Model 3's than Hyundai has sold Veloster’s in the US since its launch in 2011. Or nearly double the number of CLA’s sold in the US since its launch.... I could go on.
They’ve finally broken the hatchback bubble in the US, we can start the celebration guys. It finally happened. Now we just need to convince them to make a true wagon and break the final barrier.

Too bad the Model 3 has a traditional sedan trunk and not a hatch...

They have finally replaced BMW as Apple of the automative world.

Call it whatever you want, that’s a damn hatchback. It may not have a real hatch, I might be crazy, but that’s a hatchback.

In Australia, Tesla has replaced Apple altogether. http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/31/iph…

A hatchback has to have a hatch to be a hatchback

Would you prefer 4-door coupe or janky hatchback?

Who would actually stand in line for hours just for an iPhone 5s with a new name?

I like how you’re getting a lot of replies about how it’s not a hatchback, but we still have no idea how the rear opens. The lines suggest hatch, but who knows.
Here's to hoping!

Other than the bathroom, there’s not much I’ll stand in line for.

I honestly can't tell whether this is a good or a bad thing.

the lines suggest not a hatch. there is no line up top of the rear window for the hatch

I honestly would also like to know that.

I see what you’re saying, but I’m not going to jump to conclusions until it’s final.

It’s a sedan. Maybe call it a 4 door coupe, though that’s a silly name anyways.

But you can get your deposit back and walk away if you want...

Pretty stupid. I always pre-order if I want it early.

Americans loving a small car is the win here. It’s a win people have been trying to achieve for decades. Take it, drop the hatch thing ;)
